The Z-List
O.K. It’s been going around for a while now. It was started by Mack Collier. The whole purpose of it is to build incoming links to fellow bloggers. I must confess I wasn’t thrilled by the idea. I am usually against processes that build automatic links without actually believing in what you link to. Such automation is very quickly picked up as spam. It seems there’s already voices against the list. However, since I was added to the list by Chris I decided to join the list. First of all I feel obligated to return the favor. Second of all I’ve already seen some new incoming links thanks to Chris.
The third reason is that I realised that, although there’s a slight risk (in terms of spam) there’s a unique aspect that makes me feel comfortable about it: I took the list from Chris and am going to include in it his additions. There’s other lists from other bloggers going around. Other bloggers are picking up other lists. It’s like a tree with branches that keep growing in different directions each new branch having it’s own identity. While there’s the base of the list (those who got in among the first) each new list has new and different links.
Giving all these reasons I decide to (as TheProbabilist puts it) “spread the link love”.
It’s very easy to join the love circle. Write a new post (everyone uses the “Z-List” term in the title) in which you put the whole list bellow as well as suggest any blogs you would like to see included in it.
It’s suggested that you don’t add your own blog(s) to the list. Let those you include in the list (and who will hopefully join) add your blog.
Here’s the list:

I had some similar initial concerns about how search engines will regard the Z list but ultimately decided to publish my list because I believed that the actual motive behind it is to share the blogs you like with your readers.
I love how its going so far.. I get fresh incoming links by the hour and best of all, I get to discover new blogs that have really good content. Awesome

hey Maki,
awesome indeed. since i’ve only been added on the list yesterday, i don’t get “fresh incoming links by the hour” :), but i had my share of quite a bunch in the last day.
thanks for the comment,
cosmin

Hi,
The original intent of the Z-list, as Mack put it together, was not solely to give bloggers an easy way to get link love. It was originally a list of little-known bloggers that were worthy of a read. So, you added to the list those bloggers you thought were worthwhile. Maki was right on the mark with the comment above.
A side benefit is a disruption of traditional search engine rankings.
Thanks for keeping it going!

hey Becky,
thanx for the comment and for pointing out Mack’s original intent. it’s an extra reason for me (and others) to feel comfortable with it.
cheers,
cosmin

Becky is exactly right. And I remember how hard it was for me to build a community when I first got started blogging. I remember posting and hating that I never got comments at first, because no one knew I had a blog. The Z-List was an attempt to draw some attention to those blogs, and give them a ‘headstart’. Hopefully it will help do the same for CosminPTR

How’s this one doing for you Cosmin? I’ve got 110 extra blogs linking out of it so far, and some new readers. I think it’s a great idea

it’s working great Chris. i didn’t get quite that many blogs linking, but i’ve got pretty good results.

Hi Cosmin,
I just found this page. I was wondering where those backlinks came from. Thanks for the link love.
